Cekal Waja members making ‘dodol’.

SIBU: 270 Cekal Waja members comprising members of the 31st Infantry Brigade Headquarters, 6th Battalion Border Regiment and 9th Battalion Border Regiment were involved in the “gotong-royong” activities of making “dodol” (sweet toffee-like sugar palm-based confection), “ketupat” (rice dumplings packed inside woven pouches) and “lemang” (glutinous rice, coconut milk and salt cooked in bamboo sticks) in preparation for the first day of Hari Raya Aidilfitri today.

Commander of the 6th Battalion Border Regiment, Lt Col Werar Suleiman  Hj Ali and his wife, Wan Hasmah Wan Awang also joined the “gotong royong” activities.

Yesterday, members of the 31st Infantry Brigade Armed Forces Family Welfare Body (Bakat) also began visiting family homes of members at Oya Camp. The visits were led by Zuraidah Ismail, wife of the 31st Infantry Brigade Staff Chief, Lt Kol Mohd Zaini Hashim.

Commander of the 9th Battalion Border Regiment, Lt Col Zaidi Ahmad also joined the regiment in its preparations for the feast at Bumimas PLKN Camp in Sibujaya.

Meanwhile, 31st Infantry Brigade commander, Brigadier General Dato’ Haji Fadzil bin Tajudin thanked all Bakat members who supported their husbands and helped in the final preparations for Hari Raya Aidilfitri.

He also extends his Hari Raya Aidilfitri greetings to all army personnel including those manning the border as well as to all Muslims in the country.
