KUCHING: A total of 25 special needs children from the community-based rehabilitation centre (PDK) Sentuhan Kasih received duit raya from the Islamic Welfare Association of Sarawak Forest Department (Perkijap) at Wisma Sumber Alam here, recently.

Earlier, the children and their parents participated in a breaking of fast together with SFD staff and retirees as well as invited guests.

Present to give out the donations was the department’s director Hamden Mohammad.

At the same event, a total of 280 packs of rice – donated by SFD staff and individuals – was distributed to underprivileged students from selected schools around Kuching in conjunction with the Sekampit Beras Perkijap 2019 programme.

Tazkirah Ramadan delivered by Ustaz Su’udi Arof was also held.

Also present were Strategic Planning and Project Development Division assistant director who is also Perkijap chairman Happysupina Sait and former SFD director Datuk Ali Yusuf.

According to the department, Perkijap would also distribute bubur lambuk and bubur pedas on every Friday in the month of Ramadan to its staff and members of the public.
