SIBU: School sports day is not just a competition but also an opportunity to exercise, foster unity, and showcase talents.

Pointing this out, SJKC Kiang Hin board of management chairman Kapitan So Teck Kee said it is not only about competing but also celebrating the spirit of unity and friendship.

“Sports are an integral part of our lives. They not only contribute to our wellbeing but also teach us perseverance and how to overcome challenges, qualities crucial in life. Through sports, we can develop teamwork, learn to respect our opponents, and most importantly, build self-confidence and resilience,” he said at the opening ceremony of SJKC Kiang Hin’s Sports Day held at Stadium Tun Zaidi here on today (Oct 27).

As such, he expressed his gratitude for their dedication and support for without them, the event would not be as successful.

“To all the young athletes, regardless of today’s competition results, you are all winners. You participated, you worked hard, and you dared to challenge yourselves, which is a victory in itself.

“Remember, sports are not just about competition; they are about enjoying the process. Maintain a positive attitude, respect your opponents, and savour the joy of the game.

“We will celebrate the winners, but let’s celebrate every child who participates. No matter which class or grade you come from, you are the pride of our school. I hope you can give your best in the competition, enjoy this moment, and draw strength from it to become better versions of yourselves.”

School headmaster Ling Ing Kiong is grateful for the unwavering support and attention from the school board of management, who have assisted the school in carrying out various activities.
