KUCHING: Four Community-based Rehabilitation Centres (PPDK) in Sri Aman took part in a two-day talent identification (TID) programme on March 30 and 31.

The TID programme selected people with disabilities (OKU) who have potentials in sports and recreational games.

During the selection process, the disabled persons participated in mainstream sports and recreational activities.

The selection, held at Sri Aman Sports Complex, was organised by the Welfare, Community Well-being, Women, Family and Children Development Ministry.

The participating PPDK are Sri Aman, Lingga, Stumbin and Batang Ai.

There were five sports categories, namely, athletics, badminton, chess, ping pong and power lifting.

Community Welfare Assistant Minister Datuk Francis Harden Hollis, who officiated at the closing of the programme, commended the organising committee for their hard work during the selection process and for selecting Sri Aman as the first location to carry out the TID programme this year.

Harden said the state had excellent record in Para Sukma Games. It was the champion for 13 consecutive times since the event was introduced in 1991.
