KUCHING: Sarawakians need to be united in fighting the Covid-19 outbreak, says Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian.
He said in this challenging time, Sarawakians needed to be positive, to care for each other, to support the frontliners and to pull all resources together.
“Over the past few weeks, I have seen the worse and the best of human behaviour but I am inspired and deeply moved by many Sarawakians stepping forward to assist one another,” he said in his Facebook post.
He said there were many from all over the state that had quietly contributed in their own way during the ongoing crisis.
“Panic, hysteria, anger, frustration, finger pointing, racism, bigotry and politics do not help to improve the situation.
“But how you and I can help (if you are not infected)? That is to stay at home,” he said.
Dr Sim also urged those coming in close contact with an infected person or has unknowingly infected (without symptoms) somebody to immediately come forward and get tested.
“The virus doesn’t care if you are powerful or ordinary, rich or poor, white or black or Asian, Malay, Chinese, Dayak or Indian, Christian, Muslim, Buddhist, Hindu or atheist or you are in the city or rural region.
“So everyone has a role to take care of everyone’s safety and please play your part,” he said.
