KUCHING: The Information Department has to change so as to stay relevant in engaging with the people with the social media as its platform, said its Sarawak director Abang Sardon Abang Hashim.
He said although many quarters have said the internet was only accessible in town areas, reality proved that information being disseminated could still reach the rural people in Sarawak.

“With a change of government after the May 9 general election, we have a new political master and we must be dynamic in the sense that we have to transform with the current situation by coming up with programmes that are attractive and have the ‘wow’ factor in line with the digital era.

“We can still disseminate messages through social media on social issues, development, culture and patriotism – things that both the federal and state governments can collaborate on,” he told Bernama after attending the department’s state-level ‘Malam Keceriaan & Inovasi 2018’ here on Wednesday night.
