BAU: The Sarawak State Library in collaboration with Business Events Sarawak (BES) today donated some 300 books to SK St Teresa’s school library at Kampung Stenggang here.

SK St Teresa headmaster Nyopas Rinag said the donation will benefit both of the school’s primary and secondary school students as well as the local communities here.

He emphasised that the books are important for school children to develop and increase their commands in Bahasa Malaysia and the English language.

“Thanks to Sarawak State Library and BES for the donation of the books. This will greatly help our students to learn and read.

“The collection of books in our school library will definitely give benefits to children as well as to the community here in Kampung Stenggang and nearby villages,” said Nyopas.

He said this at the Books Build Legacy – Book Donation Handover Session at Sk St Teresa this morning (Oct 15).

Meanwhile, Sarawak State Library acting chief executive officer Japri Bujang Masli said the collaboration with BES for the programme is part of their corporate social responsibility (CSR).

In his speech, he said both parties are committed to assisting communities and schools that are in need of educational books.

“Most of the books we have are from the people who wanted to donate them to schools that are in need of books for children to learn and read.

“Reading is important so that everyone can learn and know more. Not only we gain knowledge but we are also learning something that can be useful in the future,” he said.
