KUCHING: Sarawak has recorded its biggest day-to-day jump in the number of infected cases of Covid-19.

State Disaster Management Committee chairman Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas said Sarawak yesterday registered 11 new positive Covid-19 cases, bring the total of the number over the past three days to 20.

“Miri recorded a surge in Covid-19 positive cases with eight cases from the 11 cases reported on Saturday. One case each was reported in Kuching, Bintulu and Sarikei.

“The eight cases were linked to the recent religious gathering at Sri Petaling Mosque in Kuala Lumpur. We and are still identifying and verifying the sources for the Kuching, Sarikei and Bintulu cases with the State Health Department,” he said in a statement yesterday.

Uggah reiterated that the committee had set up a special task group to track down over 400 travellers from Kuala Lumpur who flew to the state through the four main airports between March 2 to 5 to stem the spread of the virus.
