SRI AMAN: The people of Kampung Sungai Besai Asal and Kampung Selanjan Sebemban now have better water supplies following the completion of their rural water supply project.

The army and the villagers collaborated on project while the coordination was done by the Royal Army Engineers Regiment

First Infantry Division Commander, Major General Toh Choon Siang, declared the project open last Saturday. Bukit Begunan assemblyman Datuk Mong Dagang was also present at the ceremony.

The project involved the construction of a dam which is equipped with a water filtration system using belian wood and river rocks.

One officer and 16 personnel from Royal Army Engineers Regiment and First Malaysian Infantry Division worked on the project in the two villages starting on August 18 last year. The project was completed on December 7.
