KUCHING: Three babies were yesterday adopted by the Red Crescent Society (PBSM) Sarawak Chapter as an annual programme in conjunction with the World Red Cross/Red Crescent Day.

They comprised two girls and one boy and all were reportedly born  between 12.00am and 1.00am Monday.

Their mothers Pollymena Ahngge, Anna Jenggi and Norfazilla Samsimon were given hampers as gifts. Aside from that, in conjunction with Mother’s Day 151 mothers also received hampers.

State Chapter PBSM chairman, Datuk Abang Abdul Rauf Abang Zain said that the adoption was in the spirit of showing the importance of family institution.

“Like us, other NGOs should work together and be always on the ground to engage the community to advocate how a strong family institution could prevent many social problems from happening.

“We see that there are many of youths today who are involved with drug addiction, petty crimes and other problems. Parents play a big role in curbing social problems.
