SIBU: Students of University of Technology Sarawak (UTS) will get to enjoy a better dining experience with the opening of a new cafe called the UTS Street Cafe.

Located within UTS, the cafe was officially opened on Sunday (Dec 17) by Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg who is UTS Pro Chancellor.

Accompanying Abang Johari were Deputy Minister of Education, Innovation, and Talent Development and the university’s Board of Governors chairman, Datuk Dr Annuar Rapaee and UTS Vice-Chancellor Datuk Dr Khairuddin Abdul Hamid.

UTS Street café will be open to the public starting Monday (Dec 18) from 7.30am until 10pm from Monday to Sunday.

According to co-founder of UTS Street Café, Eijing Lau, it was founded with the aim of providing a more satisfying dining experience to the university community.

“Within a period of three months, our team contributed business proposals, which we presented to the management in June.

“We are grateful for the prompt feedback from the management. After several meetings and discussions, today we officially launch the café,” he said.

Lau added that the street-themed café serves a variety of food, both local and international dishes.

“I am confident that the quality food and beverages offered at the café will enhance the overall experience and spirit of UTS students, lecturers, and staff,” he said.
