MIRI: A total of 450 Form 1 to Form 4 students from Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) St Joseph Miri were honoured with awards in various categories during the school’s Excellent Student Awards Ceremony 2023 here yesterday (Feb 2).

The awards ceremony featured numerous categories, including Anugerah Ikon Ibu Bapa, Anugerah Pelajar Terbaik Kokurikulum Lelaki dan Perempuan, among others, and was officiated by Telang Usan assemblyman Datuk Dennis Ngau.

In his speech, Dennis asserted that there are no valid reasons for students to neglect their education.

“The government allocates a substantial budget for education, recognising that education is the cornerstone of the future. So, please don’t take your education lightly,” he said.

He further mentioned that the government is diligently working to develop the state, ensuring that future generations will have access to opportunities for an improved life.

During the ceremony, he also urged teachers, parents, and the community to collaborate closely, as they all play crucial roles in the improvement of education.
