KUCHING: Seventeen houses of e-kasih aid recipients in the Sekambal Lundu village have been repaired by TVET students doing community work.

The programme organised by Kuching Sarawak Polytechnic (PKS) together with the Ministry of Education, Innovation and Talent Development Sarawak (MEITD) in collaboration with Lundu District Office involved 30 students from the PKS Civil Engineering Department and the Electrical Engineering Department and 40 lecturers and eight other PKS staff.

The programme which took place from May 24-28 involved ceiling replacement, wall replacement, installing additional pipes in the bathroom, rewiring, socket addition and control switch replacement.

The “TVET Students To Do Community Works” programme is expected to help students in applying the knowledge and skills learned in the field.

The closing of the programme was officiated by the Head of Talent Development Division of MEITD Shariman Jamil.

Also present were PKS Director Hikmatullah Hajid Ahmad Khan and Lundu District Officer’s representative Mohd Syafie.
