SEREMBAN: The state government will work out a suitable mechanism to be implemented if the recent free bus service in Seremban is full of foreigners.
However, Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun said the issue would not arise if the locals made full use of the service.
“From what I know, the foreigners only come out during the weekends on their off-days, what is important is that from Mondays to Saturdays, most of the local people travel to market, office, hospitals and elsewhere using this service.
“So at this stage, we will see first the response to this free bus service, I do not want to make a decision without a study. Anyone can use this service, it is on a trial basis and if we see most of the people using the bus are foreigners, we will review it,” he said after the 67th anniversary celebrations of the Civil Defence Force at the Negeri Sembilan Civil Defence Centre today.
Aminuddin added that the government had not set any rules on who could use the free bus service in Seremban, including foreigners.
“We have to look first at the suitability and need for this bus service, and if we set the rules without conducting a study, it could lead to problems later.
“We hope the locals will make full use of the service, especially on Mondays until Saturdays,” he said.
The free bus service route in Seremban which began yesterday covers KM Plaza, Seremban Utara Post Office, Haji Shariff Cendol, Wisma Negeri, Seremban Municipal Council, Seremban EPF, Tuanku Jaafar Hospital, Seremban Health Clinic and Seremban KTM from 5.45 am until 8.45 pm, with a frequency of 30 minutes between each station.
At the event today, 25 people were accorded Civil Defence ranks while 27 people received Civil Defence awards.
Aminuddin was also awarded the rank of Honorary Commissioner (PA) of the Civil Defence. – Bernama
