KUCHING: The 32-metre long Sungai Pesu Bridge in Jelalong, Tubau was officially opened to road users on Wednesday.

The symbolic opening was completed by Murum assemblyman, Kennedy Chukpai Ugon, who was accompanied by the assistant general manager of Jelalong Estate Mohan a/l Ramasamy, the managers of Samling Farm in Jelalong, Tubau together with the company staff.

He said the steel bridge was built under the corporate social responsibility (CSR) of Ladang Samling Jelalong-Tubau.

“With the construction of this 32-metre long steel bridge, which replaces the dilapidated wooden bridge, it will be a very important infrastructure facility for the local community here to bring their agricultural produce such as palm oil and their connection to the road to the city or to locations outside Jelalong,” said Chukpai in a post on the Facebook page of the Community Service Centre of the Murum state assembly, today.

He said the new bridge would also benefit the company as it was one of the main entrances to Jalan Bakun-Bintulu.
