KUCHING: Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) president Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian (pic) has called on the federal government to revoke the permanent resident status of Zakir Naik, an Indian Muslim preacher, and deport him from the country.

Sim, who is also Local Government and Housing Minister, said Zakir Naik is not welcomed for causing disunity among Malaysians.

“We do not welcome extremists like Zakir Naik to Sarawak where peace and harmony are of utmost importance.

“Sarawak will never compromise her autonomy on the entry of racists and extremists. Sarawakians should show their fullest support to the state
government over the preservation of her rights and protection of their homeland.”

Sim also warned that Sarawakians should be fully aware of the fact that citizenship problems faced by Sarawakians should be settled by the state government instead of the
federal government.

“The reasons are very clear. Only the state government understands the needs of Sarawakians and can decide who is qualified to be a citizen of Sarawak,” he added.
