SIBU: Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Dudong branch chairman, Wong Ching Yong questioned what Democratic Action Party (DAP) incumbents have done during their tenure to improve infrastructure and health facilities here.

“Since 2010, what have they done especially during the 22-month period when Pakatan Harapan was the government?” he said at a press conference today.

To illustrate his point he highlighted the bumpy airport road and insufficient parking space in Sibu Hospital.

“Sibu people have also been requesting for a heart centre or even a satellite heart unit. What have the two MPs proposed to the federal government,” he asked referring to DAP’s Oscar Ling and Alice Lau.

In light of this he called on voters to give Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) an opportunity to fight for the state’s right under MA63 by voting for its candidate during the 15th General Election (GE15).

“We must give GPS the opportunity to fight for our rights enshrined under MA63 particularly on education autonomy and medical service autonomy. We have to take back these rights,” he said.

Wong also appealed to young voters especially those who would be voting for the first time to choose wisely.

“The future of Sarawak is in your hands. Sarawak is our own. We must not be controlled by Malaya,” he said.

On Saturday night, Sarawak DAP chairman Chong Chieng Jen announced that Oscar and Alice will be defending their Sibu and Lanang seats respectively.
