KUCHING: Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak Campus (Swinburne Sarawak) recently organised a thought-provoking talk on the career path of a company secretary, presented by the Companies Commission of Malaysia (CCM).

The talk was delivered by Ronatkinson Nujol, the head of operations at CCM’s Sarawak branch, aimed to provide valuable insights into alternative career options for accounting and finance students.

Participants gained valuable knowledge about the legal framework of the company secretary profession, as outlined in the Companies Act 2016.

Ronatkinson also highlighted the diverse career paths available in this field, capturing the interest of the audience, particularly students eager to explore alternative career avenues.

Swinburne Sarawak School of Business head Dr Fung Chorng Yuan said that accounting graduates were typically perceived to pursue careers as accountants, auditors, or tax consultants.

“There are alternative career paths for Accounting majors that make use of their education and degree.”

Fung added that the talk showcased the numerous opportunities available to accounting graduates and underscored the seamless transition they could make into the role of a company secretary.
