Tanker truck driver killed in crash


MUKAH: A tanker truck driver was killed in an accident along Jalan Serupai, Balingian here today (Jul 15).

State Fire and Rescue Department operations centre said firefighters were despatched to the scene to extricate the victim who was pinned to his seat in the lorry’s cabin.

“Upon arrival, the firemen found the tanker truck, which was loaded with plywood glue, overturned by the side of the road.

“The victim was extricated by the firemen using a rescue tool,” the operation commander said today (Jul 15).

The operations centre said the victim was pronounced dead at the scene by health personnel.

“The victim’s body was then handed over to the police for further action,” it added.
