BAU: The Tasik Biru Festival should be made into a tourism product for the district as it provides a unique experience for tourists.

In stating this, Deputy Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Datuk Snowdan Lawan said each district in the state has its own uniqueness and the Tasik Biru Festival here is one of the tourism products that can drive other tourism products to be created here.

“My ministry often looks for new products so if you have any new tourism products please submit them to us.

“For the festival here, maybe in the future we can make it bigger or more lively.

“This is because we want to put Sarawak, our district and our division in the eyes of the world,” he said while attending the Tasik Biru Festival 2023 on Sunday (Oct 29).

He said since Sarawak has 34 ethnic groups, it can provide an experience for tourists to see for themselves the Culture, Adventure, Nature, Food and Festival (CANFF) in the state.

“Tourism is a big name but without products it is meaningless because we have to understand those from outside, if they want to come to Sarawak, what they want to see is our tourism products,” he said.

Having said that, he hoped this festival would be organised on a larger scale in the future with the support of his ministry and the Federal Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC).

Meanwhile, Deputy Minister of Transport cum Tasik Biru assemblyman Datuk Henry Harry Jinep said the festival, the 17th edition, was held for three days from Oct 27 to 29.

According to him, it has helped small entrepreneurs in Bau promote their products and services.
