MUKAH: A school teacher was charged in the Sessions Court here on Friday with sodomising a male student.

Mukah Police chief, DSP Jimmy Panyau when met at Mukah District Police Headquarters (IPD Mukah), said no plea was recorded from Bobby Seli, 42.

He said the charge, under Section 377C of the Penal Code, was read to the accused before Mukah District Officer, Shafrie Saili, who fixed 25 July for mention of the case.

Jimmy said the accused was released on a RM10,000 bail with two sureties with fixed income of RM2,000.

“He has also been ordered by the court to report himself at Kapit Police Station, near his workplace, once every two weeks and not to contact the victim by any means,” he said.

Jimmy said it was understood that the accused was detained by police in Kapit recently after the 14-year-old boy related his ordeal to another teacher who then lodged a report at IPD Mukah.
