KUCHING: An 18-year-old boy was ordered to be sent to Henry Gurney School until he turns 21 for raping his 14-year-old girlfriend, which led to her giving birth to a baby girl.

Sessions Court Judge Iris Awen Jon meted out the sentence after the young offender pleaded guilty and a social report from the Social Welfare Department was heard today(Feb 26).

He was charged under Section 376(1) of the Penal Code with raping the girl in a rented room above a café in Metrocity, Matang in March 2023.

According to the facts of the case, the girl’s mother lodged a police report on Nov 28 last year after her daughter gave birth to a baby girl.

The complainant was unaware of her daughter’s pregnancy and suspected that the boy was involved.

Following the police report and investigations, the offender was arrested on Dec 1 last year, and a chemist report confirmed his paternity of the baby.

Meanwhile, the Magistrate’s Court on Dec 11 last year, had ordered the girl to undergo a six-month good behaviour bond for concealing the birth of her baby girl.
