MIRI: Call it rubbing salt into one’s wound but a houseowner was at a loss for words after her 27-year-old tenant not only failed to pay RM3,000 in owed rental but emptied her house of her belongings before he left the building.

The 73-year-old houseowner discovered her loss when she went to the Batu Niah premises to demand rental payment on May 3.

According to district police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu, the tenant took with him the landlady’s four air conditioners, four mattresses, four closets, three woofer speakers, a dog cage, a refrigerator and four bedroom sets all of which amounted to a loss of about RM22,000.

But acting on a police report police on Thursday detained the suspect and his friend for questioning.

Investigations are continuing.
