KUALA TERENGGANU: The Terengganu Education Department continues to excel in the country’s education sector, the latest winning the national-level 2018 Best Virtual learning Environment Award.

Its director Shafruddin Ali Hussein said the award would further motivate teachers in the state to use VLE for classroom learning.

“The role of the teachers is not merely to impart knowledge to students as they are also responsible to produce students with high level of thinking and skills, which can be achieved by using VLE in tandem with the development in technology,” he said.

He said this in his speech at the convention for VLE advocacy teachers, which was opened by the Education Ministry’s Teacher education director Datuk Maimunah Suhaibul here on Tuesday.

The VLE programme was introduced by the ministry in 2011 under the 1BestariNet project, with the cooperation of YTL Communications, which provides the high-speed wireless 4G Internet to schools in the country. – Bernama
