MIRI: An elderly man was arrested for allegedly using a semi-automatic rifle to threaten a security guard at Tudan Health Clinic last Thursday (Aug 5).

The arrest took place after a police report was lodged by the complainant that day.

At around 2pm, the suspect in his 60s was dropping his wife off at the clinic for treatment and was told by the guard not to park his vehicle in front of the clinic.

Because of the reprimand, the suspect challenged the guard to a fight. An argument quickly developed between them before the suspect left with his car.

An hour later (3pm), he returned with a rifle and used it to threaten the guard who, fearing for his life, recorded the suspect’s vehicle registration number and then lodged a police report.

Miri police chief ACP Hakemal Hawari, who confirmed the case, said a team they arrested the suspect at his home in RPR Batu 6, Jalan Pujut-Lutong around 6pm.
