Three arrests in three days for drugs

BINTULU: Narcotic police here have arrested three men in three days for possessing drugs believed to be syabu around the district.

Last Wednesday (June 8) a 25-year-old foreigner was arrested for possessing 0.4g of syabu around Jalan Main Bazaar.

The next day (June 9), a 20-year-old local was arrested possessing 0.3g of syabu around Sungai Plan Phase 2, Jalan Tanjung Kidurong.

Meanwhile, the third and recent arrest involved a 33-year-old foreigner who was found in possession of 1.2g of syabu.

Bintulu district police chief Supt Batholomew Umpit in a statement, said the third suspect was arrested at the Wharf Penambang, Taman Sri Dagang.

“He will be investigated under Section 12(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

“If convicted, the suspect is liable to a fine up to RM100,000 or a jail term up to five years,” he said.

Both the suspect and the drugs were taken to the police station.
