Firefighters trying to extricate the driver from the wreckage of the car.

KUCHING: A woman and her two teenage sons were injured after the Perodua Kancil car they were travelling in collided with a Toyota Wish near a school at Jalan Demak in Petra Jaya here early yesterday.

It was said that the victims were heading towards the school when the accident happened around 5.50am. Following the accident, all three victims were trapped in the car.

A team eight firefighters from Petra Jaya fire station rushed to the scene after a distress call was received at 5.56am.

Upon arrival at the scene at 6.05am, the firefighters were told that one of the victims, a 13-year-old boy, was pulled out from the vehicle and sent to a hospital for treatment by a member of the public.

The remaining two victims, a 47-year-old woman and her son, aged 11, were extricated from the wreckage of the car by firefighters using rescue tools. They were then sent to the Sarawak General Hospital for further treatment.

It was learned that the driver of the Toyota Wish sustained minor injuries while his passenger was unhurt.
