MUKAH: Three building blocks of SK Campuran Daro were completely destroyed by an early morning fire today.

The blaze happened at 6.40am and firemen from Daro were immediately deployed to the scene to stop it from spreading to nearby buildings.

Upon arriving, the team found that the destroyed blocks comprised a teachers’ quarters, a store and a block which housed textbooks and meeting rooms.

No casualties were reported as the school is not operational yet after the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) announced that the re-opening of school will be March 14.

After putting out the fire, the firemen proceeded to clear the area as best they could to ensure that everything was under control.

The cause of the fire and losses incurred are still under investigation.
