KUCHING: The Associated Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Sarawak (ACCCIS) has called for an end to the boycott of KK Mart over the socks controversy.

In this respect it urged all involved parties to heed the calls of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong and the Prime Minister.

“Given that the socks issue has already entered the legal process, ACCCIS as part of the business community, is urging all parties to respect the judicial procedures and abide by the laws and regulations of the country,” it said in a press release today (Apr 3).

“It is imperative for all involved to approach this issue rationally and cease their unwarranted boycotts against the businesses.

“Such actions would have far-reaching implications on the economy and businesses, not only causing harm to the company involved, but also potentially lead to layoffs, ultimately affecting innocent employees.”

Moreover, it added, such actions could tarnish the country’s image, deter foreign investment, and hinder efforts to promote economic growth.

In condemning the recent Molotov cocktail attack on a KK Mart outlet in Kuching, ACCCIS stressed the need to preserve unity and promote tolerance in Sarawak.

The incident underscores the importance of maintaining peace and stability in the face of challenges, it said.

The association called on all parties to maintain rationality and unity to safeguard the peace, security, and unity of the nation during this challenging time.
