OYA: Various facilities will be constructed at the Oya Kaul Festival site to further enhance tourism value in the area.

Women, Early Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development Minister Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah said one of the projects being implemented was the extension of the coastal erosion control project in Kampung Kuala Hilir Oya, which will be carried out under the Rajang Delta Development Agency (RADDA).

“Among the components of the project are the construction of a 230-metre long Armour Rock Revetment structure and a 300-metre long walkway extension.

“In addition, there are plans to build a jetty for fishing boats to dock and the installation of bench lights. The estimated cost is about RM4 million,” she said.

She said this during the opening ceremony of the 2024 Oya Kaul Festival here today (Apr 21).
Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar officiated at the event. He was accompanied by his wife, Toh Puan Fauziah Mohd Sanusi.

“So, we propose to build a seafood dining restaurant similar to the one in Melaka.

“Besides that, we will also construct a permanent main stage with a roof, a multipurpose hall for children’s activities or departmental team-building programmes and others,” she said.

She added that a complete trade site with various facilities will also be provided, including a wedding pool, landscaping, toilets, and the replica of the Teba Tuanku well which would incur a cost of RM4 million.

“A sum of RM1.2 million is also required to build a surau in the area for prayer facilities,” she said.
