STATE BUDGET 2020
KUCHING: The state Budget 2020 will propel Sarawak into an advanced and high-income state by 2030, said Santubong MP Datuk Seri Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar yesterday.
“It is going to be a comprehensive agenda for all races which includes digital economy and revolutionising agriculture industry in the rural areas,” he said, while urging Sarawakians to stay tuned to the budget speech by Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg in the upcoming State Legislative Assembly (DUN) Sitting beginning tomorrow.
Wan Junaidi also advised those who are in the agriculture sector to not be bystanders and distant themselves from the government’s development programmes.
“I ask you all to think thoroughly on how to develop the younger generation and get them involved in digital economy, agriculture, entrepreneurships and others,” he said when presenting grants totaling RM79,800 at his service centre in Pantai Damai here.
The grants comprised of emergency aid (RM29,400) and minor rural project (MRP) (RM50,400).
For the emergency aid, a total of RM13,300 was disbursed to eighteen recipients who required medical or disaster relief assistance. The balance of RM16,100 was disbursed to 34 recipients under the education assistance fund.
The MRP grants were disbursed to non-governmental organisations in the Pantai Damai constituency (RM15,400) and Demak Laut constituency (RM35,000).
