BINTULU: Bintulu contributes nearly 40 per cent to the state’s income.

Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Port Development Datuk Aidel Lariwoo said with the planned acquisition of Bintulu Port, it will undoubtedly advance the region and boost Sarawak’s revenue.

According to him, the port will be further developed as a state port and transformed into a port hub in the Asia Pacific region.

“Imagine if Bintulu Port is fully taken over by the Sarawak government, there are many more economic opportunities we can generate in the Bintulu area and Jepak in general.

“The state government led by the Sarawak Premier will definitely boost the development of the area in the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP) which is in line with the Post COVID-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030, ” he said after officiating at the closing of a sewing course at the Laila Taib Welfare Complex (Peryatim) Kampung Warisan Jepak here today (Oct 25).

Aidel added that the Bintulu area is also involved with oil and gas production, contributing to the revenue of the Sarawak government.
