MIRI: Police detained three men to assist in investigation into an assault of a student from a private higher education institution that occurred early last Sunday.
In the 1.30am incident at a music cafe in Marina Square here, the victim sustained bruises and swelling on his body after he was allegedly attacked by the suspects.
Prior to the incident, the victim had gone to the premises with three friends.
The attack occurred when the victim was in the toilet of the premises.
He was reportedly dragged out from the toilet, before the suspects started punching and kicking him repeatedly.
The case is being investigated under Section 147 of the Penal Code for rioting.
