KUCHING: Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s recent call for Malays to unite reflected one thing: He is seeing dark shadows.

Asked to elaborate, Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) deputy youth chief Miro Simuh said, “He (Tun M) has lost grip of the Malay support and DAP is the biggest winner.”

The Serembu assemblyman said in Bersatu, which will be holding its convention soon, Dr Mahathir fears he might even lose to some rival group within his party.

“Therefore, his call to Malays to join Bersatu is also directed to his party members that not only they must support him but other Malays outside Bersatu must also support him to make sure he remains in the driver’s seat in Putrajaya or DAP will take full control,”  Miro said.

“In my personal opinion, the strategy is also aimed at stopping Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim from becoming the next prime minister. If all the Malay parties are under his belt, he will remain in control,” Miro added.
