Two detained for illegal possession of huge quantity of diesel

SIBU: Two local men will have difficulty explaining how they came to be in possession of a whopping 24,100 litres of diesel without valid documents.

They were arrested by Marine Police Region 5 here after they were allegedly found with the controlled item during a raid codenamed ‘Ops Kontraban’ on two warehouses at Jalan Tun Ahmad Zaidi Adruce here yesterday (July 27) around 9.30 am.

Sibu police chief ACP Zulkipli Suhaili said today the suspects, aged 39 and 55, failed to produce any valid documents.

“During the raid, police seized several oil pumps, nozzles and a number of intermediate bulk containers (IBC) and tanks containing 24,100 litres of diesel without valid licences and permits from the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN).

“In addition, two Hilux and a lorry were also seized and it brings the total seizure value to around RM177,620.

The case is being investigated under the Control of Supplies Act 1961.

The suspects and the seized items have been handed over to KPDN for further action.
