LIMBANG: Two people including an eight-year-old boy were killed in an accident involving a sport utility vehicle (SUV) and a car near Kampung Bidang, Km 36 Jalan Tedungan here, at around 5.30pm on Sunday.

The deceased were identified as Abdul Malik Rahim and Duncan Taboh, aged 66.

Limbang District Police chief, Superintendent Mohd Bukhori Saffai said early investigation revealed that Duncan was heading towards Tedungan from the town centre when his car veered into the opposite lane and collided head-on with the SUV Abdul Malik and six of his family members were travelling in.

He said Duncan died at the scene while Abdul Malik succumbed to his injuries in an ambulance while on the way to Batu Danau Clinic.

He said of the six victims who were Abdul Malik’s family members, two of them were seriously injured while the rest suffered minor injuries.

All six victims have been sent to the hospital for treatment, added Mohd Bukhori.

He said police were investigating the case under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act, 1987.

Meanwhile, Limbang Fire Station chief, Tawang Lingem said eight personnel were dispatched to the scene to extricate one of the victims who was pinned to his seat in the damaged car after a report on the incident was received at 6.35pm.
