Two nabbed for drug trafficking, drugs seized

MIRI: Narcotics police have busted two individuals for their alleged involvement in drug trafficking activities on Wednesday (Feb 22).

Miri police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu, in a statement, said the Sarawak Narcotics Crime Investigation Department (CID) carried out the raid around 8.25 pm at an entertainment centre in Permyjaya.

The suspects, aged 20 and 21, were detained for inspections as they were believed to be involved in drug trafficking activities.

“The raid also led to the finding of 549.43g of various drugs such as Ecstasy, Erimin 5 and Ketamine.

“All of the drugs valued around RM27,674.50, were seized as evidence,” he said, adding that both suspects and the drugs were taken to the police station for further action.

Alexson stated that the suspects will be investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

If convicted, the suspects may face the death penalty or if not sentenced to death, can be imprisoned for life and can be whipped up to 15 times.

The public with information regarding drug activities are advised to immediately report it to the nearest police station so that such activities can be curbed and eradicated.
