Two schools benefit from substantial CNY do collection

SRI AMAN: A total of RM22,075 cash was obtained from the sales of table, sponsored song ‘Suara Emas’ and personal contributions from individuals during the Chinese New Year Celebration 2017 at SJK (C) Chung Hua Bangkong, Lanchau yesterday.

From the total amount, RM11,037 was presented to Headmaster of SJK (C) Chung Hua Bangkong, Jee Chen Fui Jee while the balance of RM11,038 was delivered to Headmaster of SJK (C) Chung Hua Pantu, Thien Nge Kin.

Assistant Minister of Rural Economy, Interior Areas and Plantation, Datuk Francis Harden Hollis handed over the cash during a simple ceremony at Lachau, Sri Aman yesterday. The respective amounts were to help the schools, which are both national types (Chinese) schools.

Earlier in his speech, Harden advised schools students to be exposed to the latest technology for learning purpose because technology like computers and smart phones clearly could serve as good learning tools if introduced as facilities by the school to students.

“Therefore, I ask the school to provide these facilities to the students. Cooperate with the Board of Management of Schools (LPS) to provide the facilities involved to enhance academic achievement of the students,” he said.

“Parents can also introduce attractive learning methods that can attract the children like watching an Educational VCD or provide painting boards to help them learn something,” he said.

At the ceremony, he also presented an allocation of RM10,500 each to the Chairman of LPS SJK Chung Hua Bangkong, Chong Siew Kin and Chairman of LPS SJK Chung Hua Pantu, Kiew Tian Tze.

Harden also announced an allocation of RM20,000 for each school from the Minister of Local Government, Professor Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian and RM20,000 each from himself for the two schools.
