KUCHING: Cambridge Assessment International Education (CAIE) has recognised two St Joseph’s International School (SJIS) students for their exceptional performances in the International IGSCE Business Studies and the AS Level Business examinations.

The Outstanding Cambridge Learning Awards ceremony took place in Petaling Jaya yesterday (May 11).

The two students from the October 2022 Cambridge Exam series are Carmen Kuek and Lydia Ting, who received the Top in Malaysia for Cambridge IGCSE Business Studies award and the Top in Malaysia for Cambridge AS Level Business award respectively.

SJIS principal Robert Teoh said the school had consistently produced high achievers in various Cambridge exams.

“This is mainly because we have capable and dedicated teachers to guide and coach our students. Congratulations to the students as well as their teachers.

“The results are a testament to the dedication and perseverance of our students and we wish them the best of luck as they move on to the next phase of their lives,” said Teoh in a statement.

The school said 33 per cent of its students achieved straight As in all their subjects while 53 per cent achieved at least three As in the AS-Level.

Meanwhile, the IGCSE level exam saw 6.3 per cent of the students receiving straight A* while 17.5 per cent had A*/A in all subjects. 46.3 per cent of the students achieved Bs or better in all subjects.

Cambridge’s global education programmes and qualifications are designed with students in mind and are based on cutting-edge research in education.

SJIS is also a gateway for students wishing to continue a top-class education in Germany.

To satisfy the language requirement for studying in Germany, students will take German classes at SJIS alongside their A-Level studies.

Germany has become a popular place for international students worldwide to attend college or university. One of the main reasons is that German public universities offer high-quality education with low or no tuition fees and outstanding teaching and research.
