PETRONAS staff distribute essential food supplies to recipients under the Uplifting Lives Festive CNY programme.

BAU: Some 200 underprivileged Chinese families in Bau received gifts from Yayasan Petronas in conjunction with the Chinese New Year (CNY) celebration.

Each family received essential food items such as cooking oil, rice, rice vermicelli, sugar, flour, salt, sardine, chicken curry, tea, milo, longevity noodle, dry mushroom, sesame oil and taucu sauce, as well as cookies.

According to the general manager of PETRONAS Sarawak Zulaihi Mantali, the foor distribution is part of the foundation’s Uplifting Lives Festive 2024 programme which is being implemented in collaboration with Jabatan Kebajikan Masyarakat (JKM).

“Since 2019, some 6,450 Chinese recipients in Sarawak have benefitted from this programme.

“This year, a total of 2,100 families from various regions across Malaysia have benefitted from the Uplifting Lives Festive (ULF) CNY programme.

“We hope that our contributions can bring joy to less fortunate families in celebrating this year’s Chinese New Year,” he said.

For the record, the Uplifting Lives programme is an integral part of Yayasan PETRONAS’ community well-being and development strategy which aligns with the PETRONAS Sustainability Agenda and the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals.
