KOTA KINABALU: The Unduk Ngadau competition will not be allowed to be held at Hongkod Koisaan, Kadazandusun Cultural Association (KDCA), said KDCA deputy president Datuk Dr Jeffrey Kitingan.

He said the KDCA has decided that no ‘Pesta Kaamatan’ (Kaamatan Festival) celebration to be held in the area this year due to the spread of Covid-19 virus and the implementation of the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO).

“In line with the decision, we will not allow activity such as Unduk Ngadau, to be held at the Hongkod Koisaan KDCA, as it will attract the public’s attention and we don’t have the capability to control the situation,” he told reporters here today.

Asked about the final round of Unduk Ngadau scheduled to be held at the Hongkod Koisaan KDCA on May 31, Jeffrey said that he could not stop the event but that it would not be allowed to take place at the venue.

“They can carry on with the competition … but we will never allow it to be held at the Hongkod Koisaan KDCA,” he said.
