KUCHING: Schools need adequate Information and Communication Technology (ICT) infrastructure for student achievement, teaching and learning.

UNIMAS recently held a university social responsibility (USR) programme in collaboration with the Sibu District Education Office at SK Jalan Deshon, Sibu to provide and upgrade ICT facilities for improved Wi-Fi connectivity to all school building blocks.

Previously only the administration block had internet connectivity.

Unimas Vice Chancellor Professor Datuk Dr Mohamad Kadim Suaidi said SK Deshon now has full access to all school grounds with free Wi-Fi devices, making online teaching scenarios better handled for 45 students.

“Old laboratory computers were upgraded and equipped with acceptable operating systems for classroom teaching and learning.

“UNIMAS also gave the institution video conferencing equipment to meet the increased demand for online classes and this building helps the school administer, teach, and learn,” he said in a statement issued here today.

A total of 15 year 6 students participated in the USR programme’s ‘Let’s Make Games From Scratch’ workshop where they created computer games in the workshop.
