MIRI: The upgrading project of the concrete drainage system on Melor Tudan Road is now 80 per cent complete and is expected to be fully completed on Nov 30.

Transport Minister Datuk Seri Lee Kim Shin stated that the concrete drainage system, spanning 435m, incurred a total cost of RM439,650 under the Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) allocation of Senadin constituency.

He added that the entire concrete drainage system in the Tudan Phase 1 area is expected to be upgraded next year if everything proceeds smoothly.

“The upgrading project for the drainage system in the Tudan area has been implemented in stages.

“This project was a request from the local residents due to flash flooding issues that occurred during heavy rains or before the monsoon season,” he said during a visit to inspect the Melor Tudan Drainage System Upgrade Project site here on Thursday (Nov 2).

Meanwhile, Lee, who is also the Senadin assemblyman, revealed that a special allocation of RM5mil had been approved through the Miri City Council to carry out the main road widening project in the Tudan area.
