SEBUYAU: Government grants allocated to Parent-Teacher Associations (PTAs) are hoped to be effectively utilised to improve the quality of children’s education, according to Batang Lupar MP Mohamad Shafizan Kepli.

He pointed out the government’s commitment to supporting schools through annual fund allocations, aiming to elevate the standard of education.

“May these allocations contribute to enhancing the educational standards for Sarawakian children in rural communities. Remember, quality education is pivotal in shaping a nation’s dignity and prosperity.”

His comments came during the presentation of Minor Rural Project grants from the Sarawak government to PTAs in the Sebuyau constituency recently, underscoring the potential long-term impact on human capital development.

Earlier, a total of 22 non-governmental organisations in Sebuyau, including the Headmasters Council Sebangan Zone, Headmasters Council Sebuyau Zone, 19 PTAs, and the Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK), received grants totalling RM118,500.

In a separate initiative, Shafizan also distributed grants to longhouse JKKKs in the Lingga constituency, expressing gratitude to the longhouse elders for their unwavering commitment throughout 2023.
