UTP improves its global position in the subject rankings 2024

KUALA LUMPUR: Universiti Teknologi Petronas (UTP) continues to excel in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2024 by subject, after showcasing significant improvements and notable rankings in Engineering, Physical Sciences and Computer Science.

UTP in a statement today said the highest-ranked subject achieved is Engineering which maintains its position within the 201-250 range, securing the second position in Malaysia.

This achievement is a testament to UTP’s unwavering commitment to becoming the leading engineering school in the region.

“Physical Sciences has also displayed remarkable progress in this year’s rankings, moving up from its previous position of 301-400 to 251-300. With this achievement, UTP is now recognised as the leading institution in Malaysia for Physical Sciences.

“Meanwhile, Computer Science has made a substantial leap, advancing from the 501-600 range to the 301-400 range, securing the fifth spot in the country,” the statement read.

UTP Vice Chancellor, Prof Datuk Dr Mohamed Ibrahim Abdul Mutalib in the same statement said that he is pleased to see the institution’s significant improvement in the rankings, further cementing its position as a world-class institution recognised for delivering high-quality education.

“Our fundamental goal at UTP is to provide students with exceptional educational opportunities that equip them for success, both in the present and in the future.

“These rankings serve as clear evidence that our engineering, science and technology programmes are not only the best in Malaysia but also among the top programmes globally.
