Varsity holds convocation for 2,118 graduands

KOTA SAMARAHAN: A total of 2,118 graduands will receive their scrolls during the 97th convocation ceremony of Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) Sarawak Branch.

UiTM Pro Chancellor Dato’ Prof.  Emeritus Dr. Hassan Said, said, 332 Bachelor’s Degree and Diploma graduates of the Faculty of Administrative Sciences and Policy Studies received their scrolls at the first session of the convocation ceremony yesterday.

He said UiTM formulated various plans so that graduates are ready and able to penetrate the global job market after graduation.

“In an effort to empower the global education system, UiTM places great emphasis on cooperation and industry network collaboration that meets the needs of the market and the demands of stakeholders.

 “Until now, the faculty has cooperated by signing several Memorandums of Understanding (MoU) at the national and international levels as well as a platform for transformation towards the sustainability of knowledge so that it is always relevant and beneficial.

“Among the MoUs that have been signed are with Wisma Putra, the National Security Council, Turkish Embassy and Canadian Embassy among others.

“This collaboration has opened up space for the involvement of students and staff in gaining experience and knowledge through various activities such as student exchange, conferences, online teaching and learning as well as field trips,” he said during the convocation ceremony yesterday.

He said, based on the latest graduate marketability data for the university, the percentage of bachelor’s graduates who are employed is over 75 percent, while for diploma graduates, statistics show that 55.8 percent are continuing their studies at the bachelor’s level.
