BAU: The upgrading work for Jalan Tanjung Poting/Kampung Senibong/Kampung Tanjung Bowang in Singai here will commence in June this year.

Tasik Biru assemblyman Datuk Henry Harry Jinep said the tender for the 12km road project would be called in March. The work is scheduled to complete within 24 months from the commencement of the construction.

He said the project would cost RM55 million including RM10.5 million for payment of land compensation.

Addressing villagers at the dialogue session at Kampung Tanjung Poting multi-purpose hall in Singai, Henry said application for the road upgrading was submitted in 2016 and approved last year.

“The affected land owners are lucky because the pieces of land acquired for the project have already been given titles, which of course increases their prices,” he added.

Henry urged the Land and Survey Department to pay the land compensation by May. He told the landowners that the allocation for the compensation had been approved and ready for distribution.

He thanked land owners whose land was affected for supporting the project.

“I would like to thank all the land owners for their support because if they oppose the project, then the road will not be upgraded,” he said.

Present at the dialogue were officials from the Public Works Department and Land and Survey Department.
