KUCHING: Suruhanjaya Koperasi Malaysia Sarawak (SKM) recently received a courtesy visit from Koperasi Belia Inovatif Sarawak Berhad (KOBIS).

The purpose of the visit was to discuss the collaboration opportunities in promoting youth development and entrepreneurship agenda in the region.

“The visit was in conjunction with KOBIS celebrating its 10th anniversary this year and highlighted the important role of cooperatives in supporting young people, as stated in the Budget 2023,” it said this in a press release.

During the meeting, KOBIS stated its potential collaboration areas with SKM Sarawak, including youth outreach programmes, cooperative initiatives, business opportunities, and other supports.

KOBIS also then asked for supports and guidance from SKM Sarawak as a government agency responsible for coordinating and empowering cooperatives.

“SKM expressed its support for KOBIS efforts in promoting youth development and entrepreneurship and highlighted the importance of cooperatives in empowering young people,” it added.

The meeting ended with both parties expressing its commitment to working together to promote youth development and entrepreneurship in the region.
