MIRI: Minister for Transport Sarawak Datuk Seri Lee Kim Shin has emphasised the importance of choosing the right course and training institution to enhance employment prospects amongst students.
“As Sarawak is progressing towards digital economy, we need skill workforce in the field,” he said.
Speaking at the opening of Miri Education Expo organised by Miri entrepreneur incubator club held at a leading hotel here today, Lee added, once students choose the right course, it will help to enhance their job prospects.
“Why it is important to choose the right course? You must look at the job demand, choosing to study a course that has future potential job demand and salary would ensure that you have a higher chance of a successful career that would support your life goals. Avoid choosing the wrong course by simply following your friends,” he said.
A total 36 private and public higher learning institutions including Sarawak Foundation (Yayasan Sarawak) took part in the one-day expo.
The expo attracted more than 200 school leavers and their parents.
Also present was Miri entrepreneur incubator club president Cr Nicholas Toh Kah Shiong.
