BETONG: Several Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) members voiced a range of aspirations in conjunction with the PBB Special Convention for Betong Zone held on Sunday (Oct 8)

About 1,500 PBB members from 14 branches namely Sebuyau, Lingga, Beting Maro, Balai Ringin, Bukit Begunan, Simunjan, Engkelili, Batang Ai, Saribas, Layar, Bukit Saban, Kalaka, Krian dan Kabong attended the convention at Tan Sri Stephen Kalong Ningkan Sports Hall.

New Sarawak Tribune spoke to several delegates to gather their insights.


DAYANG MADINAH ABANG YAMAN, 54,

I hope that PBB remains stronger, together with the establishment of Belia 1828 and will continue to be the main pillar of the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS)-led government.

My hope is that it will give more awareness to members about the goals and objectives of the party, in addition to provide them with more knowledge about the efforts made by the Sarawak government in bringing development for the benefit of the people.

I hope that PBB will continue to highlight issues concerning the youth so that they will be interested in joining PBB as PBB is always active in unearthing the youth talent and to find potential young leaders.

We hope this could solidify the leadership of Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg in guiding Sarawak towards success.

As Sarawak greatly needs advancement, we are looking towards improving the economy in terms of diversifying income. Therefore, it is essential to support the initiatives laid out by the government as we need to progress.

We must not lose hope in our fight to pursue our rights as stipulated under the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63). This needs the support from the people of Sarawak and we must continue to fight for that.

We want development to be balanced throughout Sarawak, especially for it to be expedited to facilitate the rural population in particular. I hope the progress of Sarawak as envisioned by the Premier towards 2030 will be achieved and make this state prosper.
